Writing
and communication has always been a passion for me, starting when I
used to make books for my grandmother as a small child. I would draw
pictures of robins, trees, flowers and the like, sellotape them into a
hand-made book, and write stories about them for her.
Since then I don't seem to have stopped
writing - books, newsletters, articles, speeches, training programmes,
letters, shopping lists, reminder notes to my husband, little notes to
my children, poems for people's birthdays, university theses, emails
galore, notes at seminars I attend...
I love working with children's books. I
particularly love the atmosphere that can be created within a book.
Originally from England (Liverpool, in fact)
I moved to Scotland, then Wales and back to England where I lived until
1995. My husband Jon and I emigrated to New Zealand, where I set up a business called Successful
Speaking www.successfulspeaking.co.nz
We are currently on
sabbatical in Uganda, East Africa.
I spend my time working as a writer, professional
speaker, and trainer in communication skills, along with being a wife
and mother.

I
have always had a great interest in things creative, particularly
drawing, and especially the graphic art styles used in comics,
etchings, Japanese woodblock prints and art nouveau, exemplified by the
work of Beasley, Mucha, Hokusai and Moebius.
Being a
practitioner in both the fields of technology and creativity, their
recent convergence in a number of disciplines, has made sense of what I
had always thought of an ‘odd’ collection of interests on my part.
To
develop my latent creativity, I trained in different forms of art
disciplines including cartooning, water colours, comic drawing, life
drawing, print-making, pen and ink drawing.
Out of this
creative exploration came various projects and examples, some of which
are displayed in the gallery sections of this site.
